Templates control the layout and design of different sections of your website. This guide shows you where to find all templates and how to customize them to create a consistent, professional look across your entire directory site.
What Are Templates?
Templates are pre-designed layouts that determine how specific types of content appear on your site. When you edit a template, the changes apply to ALL pages using that template, ensuring consistency across your site.
Think of templates as blueprints:
- Edit the Single Listing template once → All individual listings look the same
- Edit the Archive template once → All listing category pages match
- Edit the 404 template once → Every "page not found" error has your branding
Where to Find All Templates
All your site templates are located in one central place:
Appearance → Editor → Templates
Here you'll find templates for every part of your directory site:

Important Tips
Template vs. Page Editing
Edit a template when: You want to change the layout/design for ALL pages of that type
Edit a page directly when: You want to change content on just ONE specific page
Header and Footer Are Shared
The Header and Footer are template parts that appear across your entire site. When you edit them in any template, the changes apply everywhere.
To edit Header or Footer separately:
- Appearance → Editor → Patterns
- Select Header or Footer
- Make your changes
Resetting a Template
Made changes you don't like? You can reset any template to its original design:
- Appearance → Editor → Templates
- Find the template you want to reset
- Click the three dots on the template preview
- Select Clear customizations or Reset
- Confirm the action
All your custom changes will be removed and the template will return to the theme's default design.
